Playing tennis is a fine way to spend time, and if you get really good at it you may even find you can make a bit of money, but what many people seem to get stuck on is the aspect of match play. You can have a dynamite forehand when you are practising with friends, you can have a drop volley to rival John McEnroe's, but unless you have the match play abilities you will never get far in competitive tennis.
